Results from the Regional Tournament play in Waco, Texas. Starting on August 5th. Shorthorn defeated the Oklahoma State Champions by a score of 2-1. On August 6th., in game two, Shorthorn defeated the West Texas State Champions (San Antonio) by a score of 3-1. On August 7th., in game three, Shorthorn lost against the Mississippi State Champions by the score of 4-6. The pool play resulted in a three-way tie between Shorthorn, West Texas and Mississippi. The first team to advance was determined by the number of runs allowed devided by the number of defensive innings (RA/DI) - West Texas edged out Shorthorn to became the number one seed. Then, for the second tie-brake an head-to-head method was used to advance the number two seed, which advanced Mississippi. Only the top two seeds from each pool advanced to the semifinals, thus leaving Shorthorn out of contention by the slimmest of margins. Congratulations Shorthorn, for representing New Mexico so well! Update: Little League changes the three-way tie break system...under the new tie break system New Mexico (Shorthorn) would have advanced to the semifinals as the second seed in pool A.
