Click the green "2013 Spring Registration" button below to get started. If your child is new to the league you must click "Create Account" before registering.  If your child is returning you can log in with your email and password.  If you cannot remember your password click on the "Forgot my password" link to have it emailed to you.

ALL registrations must be entered online, regardless of payment method.
A birth certificate only needs to be submitted
if your child didn't play in the 2012 season (spring, summer, or fall).

 

2013 Registration Fees:
Please use age chart to determine child’s Little League age

5-7 Years old - $105 (Baseball or Softball)

8 Year old - $105 (Softball) 

8 Year old - $140 (Baseball)

9-16 Years old - $140 (Baseball or Softball)
17-18 Years old- $150 (Baseball or Softball)

Registrations after 12/31/12 will have a late fee added

Please Read Below: Important details to make your registration process a lot smoother.

  • If this is the first time your child has played in the MWLL a copy of their birth certificate must be mailed in along with the registration receipt (received after online registration is finished). Registration is not complete until this information has been provided.
  • Refund Policy – Up to 12/31/12 a league processing fee will be deducted from refund amount.  After 1/1/13 to 3/15/13, a 15% withdrawal fee will be charged. After 3/15/13 there will be NO refund issued.
  • Late Registration – All registrations after 12/31/12 will be considered late.  All late registrations will have a $25 charge added to the cost.  All late registrations will be placed on a waiting list.  Players will be added as needed on a first come, first serve basis.  There will be no exceptions to this.  
  • Registrations received by the 12/31/12 deadline are guaranteed to be placed on a team. Registrations received after 12/31/12 will be placed on a waiting list. Players who are registered after teams are made will be placed on teams only as needed to fill them.
  • NEW - All MWLL players ages 8-16 must be evaluated to be placed on a team in baseball and softball.  Evaluation dates and times will be announced at a later time.  Evaluations will begin in January 2013.  Any player that is registered and not evaluated will not be given a refund.
  • NEW - All registration payments must be received in full by 1/31/13.  Players without full registration payments by 1/31/13 will not be placed on a team for the spring 2013 season.
  • Managers - Parents interested in volunteering to manage MUST complete three required steps to be considered: 1)The 2013 volunteer application along with a copy of a valid driver's license must be submitted via mail, 2)The candidate must be AED & CPR certified. A class will be held prior to the start of the season if you are not certified. A copy of the certification card must be mailed in to show proof if you are certified, 3)Candidates must attend a coaches clinic (date and time will be provided).

  • Fifth Annual Season Long Raffle – The MWLL will be holding a season-long raffle.  Raffle tickets are being sold for $5 each. There is a minimum purchase of $10 in raffle tickets per registration. This cost is included in the registration fee. Raffle ticket stubs will not be mailed.  You can email the league to get your raffle ticket numbers that were assigned to you.  A list of prizes and details can be found on the league website.  Additional raffle tickets may be purchased on the registration form or by emailing the league.

The table below lists the days of the week that each division played their games on in 2012.  The league will do it's best to follow this same schedule of days but changes could be made depending on league enrollment and field availabilty.  This is to just give you an idea of when your child could have a game.
Practices are scheduled by the team manager and could be held on any non-game day.

Parents: 

All players planning to participate in the spring 2019 Monroe-Woodbury Little League (Baseball age 9 thru 16 / Softball age 8 thru 16) are required to attend the skills evaluation assessment. No player will be placed onto a team or considered for advanced placement without having attended the evaluation.

any parent who would like their 8 year old to be considered for advanced placement must attend the evaluations during the 9 / 10 year old player’s time slot (noon to 1:30). There is no guarantee of advanced placement.

The Mwll is a non profit youth organization based in Orange County, New York and is a chartered member of District 19 Little League International established in 1951. 

The mission of the league is to establish the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect through the fundamental teaching of baseball and softball. To achieve this, the Mwll provides supervised programs under the rules and regulations of Little League International.

2018 will be our 67th year of playing Baseball and our 7th year of Softball.    

Our programs are made possible by parental volunteers, sponsorships and participation fees from within the Monroe Woodbury community.

The goal of the MWLL is to provide the community with educational athletic programs committed to enriching the lives of our youth by providing instructional programs that teach fundamental skills, tactics, and strategies while fostering a love of the game.

Coaches prepare the youth athlete for participation at the next level of play;

Increasing the skill knowledge with proven techniques in a safe non threatening environment.

Supporting the ideal that the winning of games is secondary to the molding of exceptional citizens; Promoting and developing core values such as respect, teamwork, sportsmanship, courage, effort, and commitment that will benefit their futures and the communities in which they live;

Establishing standards of participation for all volunteers, board members, coaches, officials, athletes and spectators;

Encouraging a positive atmosphere by showing support and patience for all athletes and volunteers; Creating a culture in which volunteers, coaches, parents, officials, and athletes work together to achieve our mission.

   

Here is a little history of our league:

On October 25, 1950, the Lions Club held their regular Wednesday lunchtime meeting. The guest speaker was Bo Gill (sports editor of the Newburgh Daily News) and his topic was Little League Baseball.

Now, it should be understood that Little League was still a new idea in 1950. Although the program had started 10 years earlier in Williamsport, PA, there was only one Little League in Orange County and that was the Newburgh organization that had been started by Mr. Gill during the previous year.

There is no record of what Mr. Gill said that afternoon, but he must have been convincing, because the next morning the Monroe Gazette reported that the Lions Club had decided to start a Little League of their own. The Lions applied to Williamsport for a charter and since this was issued in 1950, Williamsport recognizes the year 2000 as Monroe-Woodbury's 50th anniversary - even though games did not begin until 1951.

Murray Krasnoff (who owned a pharmacy on Lake Street in Monroe) directed the effort to get the league started. Among the many people who assisted him were Fred Newbury (the league's first treasurer) and Bill "Pop" Rogers (who became the leagues first president and was later the Supervisor of the Town of Monroe).

The challenges that faced these gentlemen and their colleagues were recruiting, fund-raising and finding a place to play.

Their attempt to attract players began immediately. By November 2nd (just on week after Bo Gill's address), a simple application appeared in the Monroe Gazzette. Boys between the ages of 8 and 12 who were interested in playing Little League Baseball were asked to supply their name, date of birth and home address. (It's interesting to note that there was no place provided for a parent's authorizing signature). These forms could be mailed to Mr. Krasnoff at his pharmacy or handed to him during business hours. They could also be submitted at the applicant's school.

While the title on the application read "Little League Baseball of Monroe, NY," membership was not restricted to residents of Monroe. Youngsters from Highland Mills and Central Valley were invited to join. It is likely that the founders were concerned that Monroe, by itself, would not have enough players to form a league.

Since, in those days, Monroe and Woodbury each had their own education system, the two towns were united as a Little League before they were joined together as a school district.

Soon, after the enrollment form appeared in the newspaper, it became available in schools and in Mr. Krasnoff's pharmacy. To stimulate interest in the project, the headquarters in Williamsport shipped two films (entitled "Little League Baseball" and "Little League World Series"). These were shown without charge the day after Christmas at the Monroe High School (which is now North Main Street School). The following Spring, the Colonial Theatre in Monroe offered a Grantland Rice short feature called "Little Big Leaguers." It was shown on three consecutive days and was well-attended.

By the time practice started on May 1, 1951, there were 138 boys signed up and only 72 openings for players.

Umpires are needed for 2018 Spring and Fall Season. If you are 13 years or older, passionate about the game of softball/baseball and are looking for some extra income, we would like to see you at our training classes.

Training Clinics are held Thursday nights in the High School main gym from 7 - 9 PM Sessions dates are: 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15 and 3/22 (on field training in April) 

   

What we provide:

1) 4-6 Week Training Class (Once a week in February- March). This class is given by 2 certified instructors, with over 55 years of combined umpire experience.

2) Protective Gear at all the fields.

3) Umpire Shirt, Hat, Indicator, Ball Bag, Plate Brush

 

What MWLL requires while umpiring:

1) Understanding of the Rules of the Game

2) A positive attitude, Focus and Hustle

3) Good Verbal Communication

4) Quick Thinking

5) Being at the field 15-20 minutes prior to game time

6) Reasonably conditioned, able to run, stand or bend in the field or behind home plate for two to three hours under various weather conditions and temperatures

7) Successful completion and passing our umpire training program 

8) Successful completion and passing the volunteer background check

 

Games are held weeknights beginning at 5:30pm and on Saturday morning or afternoons. Umpires will officiate both Baseball and Softball games. 


Compensation:  

New Umpire pay starts at $25 per game.

Experienced Umpires - We offer competitive game pay compared to Travel and other Leagues. Pay increases will be based on the amount of games umpired over the Spring and Fall Season and other factors such as reliability, knowledge base and prior experience.

All new umpires are required to officiate a minimum of 8 games in the Spring Season.
