OMAR EPPS IN PRIMETIME SERIES

Posted by Bradley Harris at Mar 27, 2008 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Omar Epps (Skyhawk '86) recently won an NAACP Image award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2007for his role as Dr. Eric Foreman in the TV series "House, M.D." This is the second time Omar has played a doctor. Many remember him as Dr. Dennis Gant on the hit show "ER" in the late 1990's. Omar also formed a production company, Brooklyn Works Films, which is producing the films "love Can't hide" and "Serenity Falls". Omar is serving as writer, producer and star of these films. A couple of years ago, Omar was highlighted in the March 2004 issue of Muscle & Fitness magazine. In the Hotline section, Omar discussed his workout regimen for his role in the movie "Against the Ropes". Omar played Luther Shaw, a street fighter who was managed by pioneering female boxing promoter Jackie Kallen. Ms. Kallen's role was played by the multi-award nominated actress Meg Ryan. Omar also co-starred in the movie "Alfie" later on that year. In addition to his acting roles, Omar is also the voice for character "O.E." in the video game "Def Jam Fight for NY". Omar was a standout running back and linebacker for the SKYHAWKS from 1981 - 1986. He was very instrumental in the SKYHAWKS advancement to various chanpionship games for the Jr. Pee Wee thru Midget teams. Omar gave up football after 1986 season to concentrate on his passion for acting and was selected for admission at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for Music, Art and the Performing Arts in NYC. Check out the Notable Alumni section for more information on Omar and others. Congratulations Omar and we wish the best for you in your future projects.image

Congratulations to the SKYHAWK Pee Wees - 2007 New York City Youth Football League Pee Wee Division CHAMPIONS.

The Pee Wees faced their toughest challenge of the season when they took on the previously undefeated Kings Bay Cougars at Hofstra University (Uniondale, NY.) on Sun. 12/9 for the Championship.

After being tied 14-14 with under 2 minutes to play, the Pee Wees needed someone to step up and take over the game. The Skyhawks called timeout and spoke to the defensive players asking them to “let it all out” and stop Kings Bay from scoring. The defense stiffened up and then it happened.

As the Kings Bay runner attempted to get to the outside on a sweep, several Skyhawk defenders hit him and Skyhawk Na Vonte Moses (#1) ripped the ball from the grasp of the Kings Bay RB and ran 78 yards for the deciding touchdown. Final score Skyhawks 22 – Kings Bay 14.

This win was a team effort because others players on offense were asked to “step up” in the biggest game of the year. Starting QB Cordell Ross, Jr. (#10) was injured early in the game and his replacement LeKeith Celestain (#2) needed to step in and keep the offense moving and the team spirits up. Na Vonte Moses also had a good day on offense by scoring two more TD’s on runs greater than 40 yards each.

All the scoring was possible due to the determination of the offensive line and backs to provide maximum pass/run protection when needed. The defense line and linebackers set the tone in the trenches and the defensive backs did a great job in shutting down the passing game.

Congratulations to both Kings Bay and the SKYHAWK Pee Wees for a superb effort.

Special Congratulations to Coach Garvin, his staff and players for their hard work throughout the season.
