Yorkton Regatta - August 19

The Yorkton Regatta is the final summer event for the WRCC Team before paddlers head back to school. With this in mind coaches are eager for WRCC to send it’s biggest team of the season, have a great regatta experience, give our best effort, have fun and cheer louder than any other club. These are our measures of success.

ALL current and past 2017 camp padders welcome. If you have taken part in a introduction camp or been without the team earlier in the season WE WANT YOU BACK to join us in the regatta. We would love to see you join back in the team for a great day of racing and to add to the strength of our team. This is a fun event and crossing the line first is amazing but only one person can do that so crossing the line at all is just as great!

Coach & Athlete Travel

The Team will travel together and has booked an extra 15-passenger van for athlete and coaches. Traveling time in the van, as a team fosters team building and a sense of unity as The Wascana Racing Canoe. It also allows athletes who may not otherwise have rides to participate, and makes sure we all get there on time. The Team will depart the Wascana Racing Canoe Club at 6 AM Friday morning with the travel time estimated at 2.5 hours. No additional fee is required for team travel. Parents and the ‘cheering team’ may be traveling to Yorkton as well so understand some athletes will travel with family.

Meals in Yorkton

The Team will have some snacks provided at the WRCC ‘feeling tent’ and we encourage athletes to be grazing through the day and stay hydrated. WRCC will provide athletes with lunch but if you have any special food requirements please pack your own. (remember – NO NUTS please).

Athlete Supervision

Coaches will have charge of the team but if parents or fans are attending and want to help out, well we love you! Coaches appreciate any parents willing to assist. Please let us know if you will be joining us in Yorkton. All athletes are expected to behave in an appropriately, represent themselves and the Wascana Racing Canoe Club in a top quality manner, and display the highest degree of sportsmanship.

Your equipment

You know better than anyone what you will need for personal race equipment. Do not ASSUME that your equipment has been taken on the trailer. Work with your coach to ensure what your need gets loaded on the trailer. To be sure, Pack it yourself!

Cost break down

The Team fee is $100 per paddler athletes. This fee covers all transportation of coaches, athletes and equipment as well as race fees, snacks and lunch on-site.
