Coach & Athlete Travel
The Team will travel together and has booked an extra 15-passenger van for athlete and coaches. Traveling time in the van, as a team fosters team building and a sense of unity as The Wascana Racing Canoe. It also allows athletes who may not otherwise have rides to participate, and makes sure we all get there on time. The Team will depart the Wascana Racing Canoe Club at 7 AM Friday morning with the travel time estimated at 7 hours. No additional fee is required for team travel. Parents and the ‘cheering team’ may be traveling to Calgary as well so understand some athletes will travel with family.
Coaches will determine the room assignments. 2-4 athletes will be assigned to each room. We have a block of rooms reserved for the team starting Friday July 21 and checking out Sunday July 23rd. The Team will be staying Sandman Hotel & Suites, Calgary West.

Meals in Calgary
The Team will have lunch provided at the racecourse. Breakfast and dinners will be at local establishments with the option to pick up some light groceries for the rooms. Lakeview Grocery is close to the racecourse and canoe club for easy access through the day. Team staff will help athletes but feel free to pack some snacks that travel well.
There will be Chaperones on the trip to work with the coaches who have charge of the team. Coaches appreciate any parents willing to assist the team by supervising from time to time or run errands. Please let us know if you will be joining us in Calgary. All athletes are expected to behave in an appropriately, represent themselves and the Wascana Racing Canoe Club in a top quality manner, and display the highest degree of sportsmanship.
You know better than anyone what you will need for personal race equipment. Do not ASSUME that your equipment has been taken on the trailer. Work with your coach to ensure what your need gets loaded on the trailer. To be sure, Pack it yourself!
