Boys Soccer Weekly Recap
Varsity
Started off the week ranked in the top ten and went 1-0-2 in the Leyden Tournament. All tied games could have been solid wins if we were able to close out the half. A young team learning that showing up to play will not cut it at the varsity level. The Huskies have some big games this week today vs. St. Ignatius (530 Stadium) and Whitney young (7pm Stadium) that will impact our sectional seeding.
Also check out the OPRF SOCCER Pepsi Showdown Commercial. The boys put this together and are among the finalists competing against all other teams involved.

Reserves
The Huskie JV reserves kicked off their season with their first game against University Lab High School. Despite coming up short with the final score of 2-1, the Huskies are looking to bounce back and beat Ridgewood on Tuesday. Pierre Johnson put the ball in the net to try to ignite a comeback but not enough time was on the clock to pull it off. The team is looking much better and they are ready for their next opponent.

Sophomores
The sophomore boys soccer team got off to a good start this week by sweeping their 3 games at the Leyden tournament. Sam Dull scored a pair of goals and Asher Einhorn added another in the team’s 3-0 victory against Riverside-Brookfield. Noe Espinoza connected with a cross from Okker Verhagen to give the huskies an early lead against Leyden. Espinoza notched his second goal later in the game to secure the 2-0 win. In their final tournament game against Larkin, Andy Gryzlo put another Verhagen cross in the back of the net to give the team a 1-0 win against Larkin. Playing behind a strong defense, goalies Liam Sorensen and Andrew Galo were perfect splitting time for the three shutouts. The team looks to build upon their initial success as the get ready for conference play in the coming weeks.

Freshman B
We have had a good start to the season working on the basics of soccer and working together as a team. We had our first game against Leyden and had a tough 2-7 loss with a goal a piece by Amani Mosha and Harrison Glazier, to put the Huskies on the board. We are really excited about the season ahead and the new things that we will learn about the game.
