Parents-

Attached please find the 2011-2012 Student Enrichment Grant Opportunities Bulletin. A hard copy has been placed in your mail bin as well. If you could, please post in your classroom. These Enrichment Opportunities provide grant money for students to experience the wide variety of academic enrichment programs offered by Oak Park and River Forest High School and other outside organizations.

If you know of a student who is in need of financial assistance, these Enrichment Opportunities could provide them with the additional funds they need. Have them stop by the Counselors’ Office (Room 308) and pick up one of the many applications. This Bulletin and all applications are also available via Naviance and the OPRFHS web site:

http://www.oprfhs.org/programs_and_services/Cou…

Application deadlines vary, but of special importance are two grants for students who would like to participate in one of the student exchange trips offered by the high school: the Linda Solomon Levine Travel Award and the Tibensky Academic Enrichment Award. Deadline for these two applications is December 1, 2011.

Please note that our newest Enrichment Scholarship, The Kathleen Marian Garrigan Leadership Fund, also has a deadline of January 13th. Two scholarships will be offered this year; however, this scholarship is geared more towards individuals between the ages of 17-25 who plan to participate in a domestic community service project. Projects may include building homes, restoring natural places, working in underdeveloped communities or providing tutoring or mentoring support for needy children and youth. Candidates for this award are graduating seniors and high school and college graduates. Awards will be given upon completion of an extended (2 months or more) domestic service project such as Ameri-Corps as an assistance to young adults during the transition time between the program and school/work.

The players receive a min. three games (pending how far their team advances), a jersey, information in player profile book, an opportunity to participate in the AthletiCo combine skills testing, access to professional trainers, hospitality room with food and refreshments and an opportunity to have a Q & A session with college coaches for just $75.00.

As I’m sure you do, we feel this is more than a fair price and Joe has stressed to our partners to keep the costs down and donate where possible with the Pepsi Showdown providing exposure opportunities for them in return.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Best,
Bridget

Thank you for Orange Out

Posted by Paul Wright at 06:47AM PDT

The boys soccer program would like to thank you for all the support at last night’s game. Almost every boy commented about the pool of orange in the crowd. It made a tough away game feel like a home game.

We thank you again and hope to see you this Saturday at 11am @ Hinsdale Central. The huskies will be taking on Lyons or Morton (they play tonight @ 7pm).

Cost: 5.00 set by the IHSA
